BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!

Fall is here again! We can't hardly believe that
September 25th marked our one year anniversary in Prague! How time flies! We thank you all for lifting us up in prayer over the last 12 months and carrying us through this first year of culture shock and transition. God has blessed us with many great ministry beginnings, special friendships with Nationals, and the gift of witnessing several youth accept Christ through the ministry of English camps. We are eager to tackle year number 2 and see what God has in store for us this year!

So what has the last month and a half held for us? A lot! We enjoyed a family vacation the last week of August to Croatia. We had an amazingly relaxing time after a busy summer full of
English camps and meetings. We spent our days on the rocky beaches of the Adriatic Sea where
we enjoyed the fresh air, snorkeling and swimming, and our evenings were spent in the small town of Omis enjoying ice cream cones!

Allie began school on September 1st, for her second year at the Czech school, and is doing fabulous! She bounces out the door each morning with a smile and returns home each afternoon with a smile. Such a different start compared to last year, and music to a
mother's heart! Our goal for her this year is to see her gain conversation abilities in Czech. Last year she began to understand Czech fairly well, but is still not
comfortable speaking it. So verbal ability is the next step. Please ask God to continue to bless her with her schooling experience in this school and to bless her with the gift of understanding and the ability to speak Czech during her 2nd grade year...and likely her last in the national schools.

Hunter began school at an international school on September 6th. Last year was filled with so much worry, stress and hardship for both he and Clem and I. He has spent the last year pulling away from this culture as well as people in general. He just didn't know how to cope with all of the changes.
But with much thanks and gratitude to each of you and your prayers for him, he is acclimating back into daily life at school and learning how to interact again in a positive school setting. Praise God! He ran for student council after only being there for two weeks. He was very disappointed over his loss, but we were so proud of him for being bold enough to try. He has joined the Digiphoto club that meets after school once a week and will be playing African drums in the Fall Festival assembly at school on Thursday. He hasn't found that special friend we've been praying so long and hard for, but we know God has heard our prayer and will answer in His perfect timing. Hunter longs for that "best buddy", Please continue to pray on Hunter's behalf for an answer to this prayer. Please ask God to continue to bless him in his schooling experience and continue to mature him spiritually and in his interactions with others.

Clem and I began full time language study again about 4 weeks ago. We are now studying 5 days a week. We added an extra day to practice conversation skills, since much of what we have received up to this point is grammar. We really feel the need for this extra practice.
PLEASE PRAY FOR A SUPERNATURAL ABILITY TO COMPREHEND AND SPEAK THIS DIFFICULT LANGUAGE! IT IS STILL SO DIFFICULT, AND THOUGH WE'VE COME A LONG WAY, WE ARE STILL WORKING ON OUR A2 LEVEL (UPPER
BEGINNER).

I began teaching English on Wednesday nights again on September 8th. All of my ladies returned, with reports that 2 or 3 more may join the class over the course of the next couple of months. I am so thrilled! PLEASE KEEP MIRKA IN YOUR PRAYERS. SHE DID NOT ATTEND CLASS LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND. SHE IS FRIENDS WITH THE LADIES WHO ATTEND, AND WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND AS WELL. SHE HAS TWO YOUNG BOYS, AGES 10 AND 5, AND IS BUSY WITH WORK AND NEEDS CHILDCARE FOR THEM IF SHE ATTENDS. PLEASE ASK GOD TO WORK IN HER HEART AS SHE CONTINUES TO COPE WITH THE LOSS OF HER HUSBAND, HELP HER BOYS THROUGH THE LOSS OF THEIR DADDY AND THAT HE'LL PROVIDE A WAY FOR HER TO ATTEND, AND FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO MINISTER TO HER. ALSO PRAY FOR ANNA. SHE JOINED OUR CLASS THIS YEAR, AND IS FRIENDS WITH VERONICA AND BARBARA, THE TWO TEENAGE GIRLS THAT ATTEND. PRAY FOR BARBARA AS WELL. SHE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO ATTEND THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF HER WORK SCHEDULE. ASK GOD TO CONTINUE TO BRING US OPPORTUNITIES TO INTERACT AND SHARE WITH HER IN SPITE OF HER BUSIER SCHEDULE.

In September we were invited to Tereza's house (from my English class) for Czech style sweet dumplings, filled with strawberries, peaches and plums, and covered with a special Czech cheese, poppyseeds, powdered sugar and melted butter. WOW! Were those good! We had such a fun night with Tereza and her girls, laughing and talking. We stayed 4 hours...what a fun night it was! Tereza, Veronika and Bara are very open to "spiritual conversation", but have yet to see Christ as a necessity in their lives. Please continue to pray for their eyes to be opened to Christ and his love for them, as well as to their need for his gift of salvation.

We also went hiking to Pracnicka Brana again with friends from church, Lenka and Marcel. It was such a fun and encouraging day out with like-minded believers. We no longer take that priviledge for granted! It was a chilly, but beautiful day to enjoy God's creation and refresh our hearts and minds!

The end of September brought a very special visit from
Clem's parents. We greatly enjoyed our first gathering with family in over a year! It was a very special visit, and so exciting to share our corner of the world with them. Unfortunately, during their visit, Clem's dad became ill had required a trip to the emergency room. They got an eye full of what medical care in Central Europe looks like! : ) However, they were at the best hospital in the city and in good hands. Although we hated that this had to occur during their visit, it brought with it the opportunity for them to share with the Dr. and several medical students about prayer and God's healing power. God is good...all the time! We are happy to report that his dad recovered quickly and made it home safely.

Clem is incredibly busy this fall. He was to pick up a 3rd day in the office (he is not suppose to be full time in the office until he has completed language learning), but has so far spent a portion of
each day in the office over the last month. This will probably remain the case throughout much of the Fall. They are incredibly busy right now while they prepare to downsize space and expenses and move the office to a different location. In addition to that and language, he is also taking an 8 week online seminary course. And because we apparently enjoy chaos, we are also moving to a different apartment in November. Please pray that God will give Clem the rest he needs and the hours each day that he needs to accomplish his many tasks, including study time.

I mentioned a move in November. This is a good thing! We have felt the need to find a home that would provide the kids with an opportunity to run freely outside (this has always been a huge part of their lives). Also, with Hunter attending a school on the other side of town, and Allie joining him there next year, we wanted to find a place that would be closer to the school and make their commute to school a little more pleasant each morning (currently a 30-40 min. commute each way). For reasons unknown, God decided to bless us again, and has provided us with a wonderful apartment in a beautiful apartment complex full of grass, two playgrounds, plenty of places for the kids to ride their bikes and scooters, lots of kids (of all nationalities), and a small patch of grass we can call our own outside of our front and back doors. And it's only a 5 minute bus ride to the school. Although I never look forward to packing and unpacking, we are all very excited for the move! PRAY THAT GOD WILL OPEN UP OPPORTUNITIES TO FORM SPECIAL RELATIONSHIPS AND SHARE HIS LOVE TO THE PEOPLE IN THE AREA WE ARE MOVING TO. OUR COMPLEX IS VERY LARGE, AND WE SEE YOUNG MOTHERS OUT WITH THEIR CHILDREN EACH TIME WE PASS BY. IT IS ALSO VERY CLOSE TO A COUPLE UNIVERSITIES. CLEM WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME SORT OF STUDENT MINISTRY OPEN UP TO US.

God continues to bless us with growing relationships that lead to partnering opportunities through our church. Although we are the only non-Czech speaking attenders, and understand very little of the sermon or what many say to us, they continue to welcome us with open arms. There are several very good English speakers who attend and they have all been so willing to step in and offer us sweet friendship and language/communication help. Here is a short clip of our weekly worship experience and the beautiful people God blesses us with each week when we arrive.

We have many exciting opportunities over the coming weeks that we are very eager to share with you in our next update. In the meantime, Please be in prayer for these evangelistic opportunities by praying specifically for Ondrej, Mrs. Stankova, and the Thursday morning ladies Bible study group. Details are still being worked out, so we feel the need to wait on sharing the details with you, but we still feel the need to lift these opportunities up to the Lord in advance.

Again, we thank you for your prayer and support of our ministry here in Prague. We love to hear from you, it is such an encouragement! Please send us your "happenings" and prayer requests so that we can be encouraging you and lifting you up in prayer as well.

With Love,

Clem, Carrie, Hunter and Allie
